Tire Size and Fitment Development for the Actual Spare Tire
A tire cover should be developed around the tire it must fit, not around the wheel diameter printed after the “R” in a sidewall code. Szoneier uses tire information, physical measurements where required, vehicle context, and pattern references to determine face diameter, sidewall depth, circumference, elastic retention, and installation behavior. Wheel Diameter Is Not Cover Diameter
For a tire marked 285/70R17, the 17 refers to wheel diameter, not the outside diameter of the complete tire. Theoretical outside diameter is approximately 32.7 inches, making a 33-inch fitment platform a logical starting reference. The formula is useful for screening, but it is not a substitute for physical validation on projects that require close fit.
Actual Tire Dimensions Can Differ
Two tires with the same nominal sidewall code can differ in real outside diameter or width because of brand, tread design, load construction, inflation, and wear. Differences of roughly 0.3-1.0 inch can be meaningful when a cover is designed for a clean fitted appearance rather than a very broad universal range. For sensitive projects, actual measured OD and width are preferred.

Printable PVC and Vinyl
Printable PVC/vinyl is a strong route for full-face graphics, logo or photo programs, easy-clean surfaces, and flexible spare tire cover construction. Actual surface, backing, thickness, print compatibility, and hand feel should be confirmed against the selected material rather than generalized from the word “vinyl.” Premium or outdoor-focused projects can also evaluate marine-vinyl constructions where appropriate.
PU and Premium Surface Programs
PU or other leather-like surface materials can support a softer premium presentation where tactile feel and appearance are important. The design must still account for print or logo application, seam behavior, fold recovery, sidewall construction, and packaging so the visual benefit survives production and shipment.
420D / 600D / 900D Oxford
For RV, trailer, protective, or fabric-body programs, 420D can support lighter constructions, 600D provides a balanced structure for many outdoor uses, and 900D can be considered where a heavier-duty fabric is justified. Denier alone does not define waterproofness or durability because coating, weave, backing, seam construction, openings, and actual test requirements also matter.

Fitment starts with the actual tire sidewall size, then uses measured outside diameter and width where closer control is required. Vehicle make/model/year, spare carrier, rear camera, and existing pattern references can also matter. Wheel diameter alone is not the cover diameter; for example, 285/70R17 has a theoretical outside diameter of about 32.7 inches.
Yes. Camera development can include vehicle/model-year review, actual tire size, camera housing and carrier, opening geometry, reinforcement, pattern revision, artwork safe zone, and installed-sample validation. Camera compatibility is developed together with the product rather than added as an uncontrolled cutout after printing.
Material affects printing, drape, seam behavior, sidewall construction, folding, pack volume, and outdoor use. Printable PVC/vinyl, PU, marine vinyl, and 420D / 600D / 900D Oxford therefore lead to different design decisions. The actual selected material is approved as part of the product specification.
A typical standard custom sample can be planned in about 3-5 working days after key inputs are confirmed. Existing vehicle-pattern fitment samples are commonly around 4-7 working days, while new vehicle-pattern development can be around 7-12 working days. Special materials, external testing, or multiple revisions can extend the schedule.
There is no fixed revision count that applies to every project. A simple artwork update on an approved platform may need very little physical revision, while a new vehicle-camera pattern or major material change may require additional development. Szoneier separates artwork, pattern, material, camera, and construction changes so each revision has a clear purpose.
Yes. Szoneier can build a common product platform and then control the variables by size. Pattern geometry changes with fitment, while artwork scale, text spacing, camera safe zones, labels, and packaging may also require size-specific adaptation. A multi-SKU matrix keeps the variants linked to the correct production references.
Yes. Existing samples, measurements, complaint photos, return reasons, vehicle/tire data, artwork, and packaging can be reviewed to identify the failure source. Szoneier can then revise fitment, camera geometry, material, print, construction, or manufacturing controls and produce a new golden sample for future orders.
